Luxury Retirement Living Interiors
Project completed: 2021 | Location: Oxfordshire | Project type: Luxury retirement living development interior design
Flippa Interiors designed the communal areas, manager’s office and connecting hallways within this luxury retirement living development in Oxfordshire, creating warm, sociable interiors that support wellbeing, comfort and independent living. From the residents’ club lounge to bespoke mural-lined corridors, every space was planned to feel welcoming, practical and easy to use.
Working from the early planning stages, we shaped the residents’ club lounge as the social heart of the development. A mix of armchairs, sofas and flexible seating allows the room to adapt throughout the day, from quiet coffee mornings to larger social gatherings. Warm timber finishes and layered lighting introduce a sense of homely comfort, while an integrated media wall enables the space to function equally well for film nights, talks and community events.
We designed the hallways and corridors to feel uplifting rather than simply functional. Bespoke mural wallpapers, commissioned from an Oxfordshire artist, feature gentle depictions of local flora and fauna. These artworks give each floor its own identity, help residents find their way around easily, and contribute to a calm atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.
The manager’s office was planned as a space that feels both professional and approachable. A small consultation area with comfortable seating allows for private conversations with residents and families, while integrated storage and discreet technology keep the space efficient for day-to-day management for the staff.
Throughout this retirement living interior design project, materials and finishes were selected for durability and compliance with commercial requirements, as well as warmth and comfort, ensuring the interiors will age gracefully. The result is a collection of shared spaces that feel considered, comfortable and quietly refined, strengthening a sense of community while maintaining a true sense of home.
