Our streamlined process lets you confidently hand over the running of your project to us, from initial concept through to final styling. Meetings are mostly via Zoom for ease and convenience, though in person meetings can be arranged if preferred.

Phase 1 - Discovery: Site visit to measure up and our in depth Colour Psychology & Style assessment to to understand your preferences without requiring design vocabulary.

Phase 2 - Design work: Transforming insights gained in Phase 1 into 2D furniture layouts and technical plans, 3D realistic room renders, and visuals (Ideas, Concept and Mood boards) that progressively develop and illustrate the designs for your project so you can confidently approve decisions.

Phase 3 - Supply: Includes placing and managing orders and instructing logostics companies for storage & delviery.

Phase 4 - Project management: Providing regular, transparent updates via our online dashboard, whilst managing all project details behind the scenes.

Phase 5 - Installation & styling: Delivering your finished space ready for you to enjoy!

Starting an interior design project brings up plenty of questions; every home, and every homeowner, is different. Here are some of the ones we're asked most often, from how we work to what to expect along the way. If yours isn't answered, get in touch; we'd be delighted to help.

When is the best time to get an interior designer on board?

The earlier the better. We're happy to join your project at any stage, but the most cost effective moment is right at the start, alongside your architect or builder. Coming on board early means we can help you avoid costly mistakes before they're built in, make sure the flow and layout of your home genuinely work for your lifestyle and family, and prepare everything the builders need in good time; decisions made on paper are cheap, decisions made mid-build are not. Electrical points, plumbing positions and lighting plans are far easier to get right before the plaster goes on.

I can't visualise what I want, which is why my house is still beige. How can you help?

You're not alone, and it's exactly the gap we close. We use:

2D plans: to get the layout right first
3D visuals: to see how a room will really look and feel
Concept and mood boards: colours, textures and furniture coming together
AI-enhanced visuals: to fine-tune the final look

You'll see it coming together long before the beige comes off the walls.

I don't know what my style is — can you still help me?

Absolutely, and you're in good company; this is one of the most common things we hear. Every project starts with our in-depth colour psychology and style questionnaire, designed to uncover what you genuinely love, even if you've never been able to put it into words. A second questionnaire explores how you actually like to live in your spaces, and it's not just for you; your partner and family complete it too, so the finished design works for everyone under your roof. You don't need a Pinterest board or a design vocabulary, just an open mind.

We can't agree on anything as a couple or a family! Can you help?

Yes, and you'd be surprised how often this comes up; designing for different tastes is one of the things we do best. Everyone completes our in-depth colour psychology and style questionnaire separately, which reveals the overlap you didn't know you had; couples are usually amazed by how much common ground appears once preferences are down on paper rather than argued across the kitchen table. From there we design a harmonious space you'll all genuinely love, rather than a compromise nobody does.

Should I hire a builder or project manager before I speak to you?

Not at this stage, and here's why: builders and project managers can't give you an accurate quote until they know exactly what they're pricing. Without completed plans and elevations, any figure you get is really just a guess, and guesses have a habit of turning into budget surprises later on.

Our process starts with the design; space planning, detailed drawings and elevations, so that by the time a builder or project manager comes on board, they're quoting against a clear, fixed brief rather than a moving target. This tends to save you money in the long run, as well as a fair amount of stress.

Once your plans are ready, we're also very happy to recommend trusted builders and project managers we've worked with before, people we know do reliable, quality work.

So the short answer is; come and talk to us first, and we'll help you get everything in place before you bring in the build team.

I’m worried about making expensive mistakes. How do I know I'll like the end result?

You'll see your room before a single change is made; this is where our process really comes into its own. Philippa and the design team create fully bespoke mood boards showing every recommended element: furniture, accessories, paint colours, flooring and finishes. Once the design is crafted, we carefully use AI tools to enhance the shadows, depth and lighting of our visuals, so they look and feel as close to the finished room as possible. The difference is remarkable; rather than trying to imagine how something might look, you can see it, giving you complete confidence that your decisions will work before any money is spent on the room itself.

My life is very busy. How much of my time will this take up?

Surprisingly little; our process is specifically designed for people with demanding schedules, whether that's your career or a busy family life. Most meetings are held via Zoom for convenience, and once we understand your brief, we take over the reins: managing trades and suppliers, ordering, organising deliveries, assembling, arranging, hanging and styling. Your time is saved for the enjoyable decisions; we meet at your home or our studio when it's time to choose colours, fabrics and finishes, so you can be confident in your choices, knowing everything else is being looked after on your behalf. You focus on what matters; we handle the rest.

I don't know which house to buy, is this something you can help with?

Yes, and it's often the best time to bring us in. We can help you look beyond the viewing to consider:

Flow: how you'll actually live in the space, and whether moving doors or walls could improve it
Size: whether it suits your family now and as it grows or reduces
Storage: easy to miss at viewing stage, hard to ignore once you've moved in
Potential: where space could be improved or reconfigured
Value: which changes are worth it, and which aren't

AI is great for inspiration, less good at delivering a cohesive finished room, project managing the build, or fitting out the space. A designer brings:

Understanding you: not just what looks good in an image, but how the space should function, feel and reflect your business to staff and clients
Colour psychology: how a space affects mood, productivity and first impressions, not just how it photographs
Atmosphere: it can't judge a space by mood or feel, or know how light changes a room through the day
Buildability and cost: what's realistic within your building, budget and timeframe, and what it will actually cost
Project management: sourcing, trades and timelines, all coordinated with minimal disruption to your business
Knowledge: recommending trusted trades, sorting storage and delivery logistics, fitting out and styling the finished space

How much do you charge?

As every home and commercial space we work on is very different, we don't have a one-size-fits-all charge. Instead, what we offer is a bespoke service tailored entirely to your project and the level of involvement you need from us. The best place to start is a no-obligation free Discovery Call on Zoom. We'll have a relaxed conversation about your project, get a feel for what you're trying to achieve, and understand how much support would be most useful to you. After this, we are able to put together a clear proposal with the brief, our process and a breakdown of phased costs so you know exactly what to expect before you commit to anything.

Do you offer trade discounts to clients?

Yes. As an established design studio, we hold trade accounts with a wide range of furniture, fabric and lighting suppliers, and we pass a 10% discount off retail prices on to our residential clients. Over the course of a whole room or house project, this adds up considerably and often offsets a meaningful part of your design fee. It also gives you access to trade-only suppliers and made to order pieces you simply can't buy on the high street, so your home is furnished with things your neighbours won't have.

Do I have to pay for everything upfront?

No. Our fees are charged in phases, so payments follow the natural stages of your project rather than landing in one lump at the start. Your proposal sets out each phase and its cost clearly before you commit, so you always know what's due, when, and what you'll receive for it. Furniture and furnishings are typically paid for as they're ordered, which is standard practice as bespoke and made to order pieces go into production on payment.

What if I change my mind during the project?

Changing your mind is a normal part of the design journey, and our process is built for it. Each stage of your design includes up to three rounds of revisions, so there's plenty of room to refine, swap and reconsider until it feels absolutely right; most clients find the first round gets us remarkably close, because of the in-depth work we do understanding your style before we design a single thing. We also ask you to approve each stage before we move to the next, which means changes happen at the point where they're easy and inexpensive to make, on paper rather than after ordering. Once items are ordered or bespoke pieces go into production, changes become difficult and costly, which is exactly why our approval process exists; it protects you from expensive second thoughts.

Do you provide 3D images or 3D walkthrough visuals?

Yes. Every design includes 2D space plans and 3D visuals, so you can see exactly how your room will look and how the layout will work before anything is ordered or built. On all our projects we can create 3D walkthroughs, letting you move through your future home on screen and experience the flow from room to room. Alongside our AI-enhanced mood boards showing furniture, colours and finishes in realistic light, this means very little is left to the imagination; you'll see your space before a single change is made, which is exactly how expensive mistakes are avoided.

How long does an interior design project take?

s a guide, a four bedroom full house refurbishment usually takes 9 to 12 months, depending on scope, lead times and whether building work is involved. Bespoke joinery, made to measure curtains, upholstered pieces and imported furniture carry the longest lead times, so we plan around these from the very start. Once we fully understand your requirements, we'll give you a realistic timescale for your particular project; and we'd always rather tell you the truth about timings at the beginning than surprise you later.

Do you design bathrooms and kitchens?

Yes, and it's some of the most valuable work we do. Many standard kitchen and bathroom suppliers offer free design, but their designers are often inexperienced and, crucially, they're designing around what they sell rather than around you. By the time we design your kitchen or bathroom, we know you: your style, how you live, how you'll actually use the space. We also design the whole room, not just the units, equipment and sanitaryware; lighting, flooring, colour, storage and those finishing details that make the space feel considered rather than fitted. And because we're independent, we can recommend reliable suppliers and fitters we trust, so you get the right products from the right people, installed properly.  

Do you provide joinery drawings and elevations that a joiner can quote from?

Yes. For bespoke joinery such as wardrobes, media walls, alcove units, boot rooms and libraries, we produce detailed scale drawings and elevations showing dimensions, internal layouts, materials and finishes. This matters for two reasons: your joiner can quote accurately from the drawings rather than guessing, and every quote you receive is priced against exactly the same specification, so you're comparing like for like. It also means far fewer surprises during the build; the details have been decided on paper, where changes cost nothing, rather than on site, where they cost a great deal. We're happy to work with your own trusted joiner or recommend experienced joiners we know and trust.

Do you offer styling as well as design?

Yes we do; styling is the finishing touch on every full service project and, in many ways, the most satisfying stage. Once the big pieces are in place, we dress the room: art, cushions, throws, lamps, books, plants and those final accessories that turn a well designed space into one that feels genuinely lived in and loved. We also offer styling as a standalone service; perfect if you'd like styling at the end of your design journey, if you're a property developer dressing a home for market, or if your property needs to look its absolute best for sales photography.

Can you work with my existing furniture and belongings?

Yes. We regularly design schemes around treasured pieces, existing furniture or art collections. Part of helping you find your style is understanding what you already own and love, then creating a design scheme that effortlessly incorporates these pieces, rather than starting from a blank slate.

If you do the design, can I buy the furniture to save money?

Yes, of course you can; the designs are yours. But it's worth knowing that buying it yourself rarely saves what you'd expect. When we handle procurement, we pass on a discount of up to 10% on a huge range of desirable retail brands, so the headline saving often disappears immediately. Just as importantly, we take away the pain that comes with furnishing a whole room: we place every order, chase and manage the deliveries, and arrange returns or replacements if an item arrives damaged or simply isn't right. Doing that yourself means weeks of order tracking, delivery windows and listening to on-hold music. Most clients find that self-buying costs the same or more, and swallows the very time they hired us to save.

Do you work on commercial projects as well as homes?

Yes. We work with hotels, spas, restaurants, golf clubs, private schools, property developers and businesses, applying exactly the same process we use in beautiful homes. We call this 'Resi-mercial' interior design: bringing a warm, residential feel to a commercial setting, so we help you find a style that reflects your brand and creates a space your team and clients will genuinely love. Founder Philippa Sale grew up in the hotel industry and spent years as a director and owner of a family hotel and a golf club, so hospitality thinking runs through every commercial brief.

Where do you work?

Our studio is based in West Hagbourne, South Oxfordshire, and we work with clients across Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Surrey, Wiltshire, the Home Counties and Greater London. We can also work with you if you live abroad, for example, past clients have been based in Hong Kong, South Africa, Italy and Pakistan.

Would you be able to start immediately, or within a month?

We're rarely able to start immediately, and that's by design rather than misfortune. We take on only four full home projects and three smaller projects a year, so that every client receives our complete attention; it's how we've maintained nine consecutive years of Houzz awards, and it does mean our diary fills ahead of time. That said, projects do occasionally pause, for building work or planning reasons, and move to a later slot; when that happens, an earlier space opens up. So if we feel we're a good fit for each other, it's always worth a conversation; get in touch early and we'll be honest about what's possible.
